Camp Watchaug - Archery
Weather was perfect for an afternoon at Camp Watchaug on 29 Oct 2014.
We were able to shoot a few arrows, climb the cargo net and the climbing wall.
Needless to say everyone had a few sore muscles that evening.
Action on the cargo net and climbing wall
Good time was had by all who participated. Next adventure is our visit to Mystic for
our annual Christmas shopping extravaganza.
Latern Hill and Clyde's Cider Mill
It was an afternoon full of outdoor fun! After a quick but intense hike to the top of Lantern Hill, we headed to Clyde's for some delicious cider and donuts. . .mmmmmm.
We're looking forward to next month's trip to zipline, channel our inner Katniss Everdeen with some archery and much more at Camp Watchaug!

9 Dec - Olde Mistick Village, outdoor shopping opportunity followed by dinner at a local eatery

Dr. John Champlin Glacier Park Hike
An excellent day for a local hike! Very accessible trailheads, from both Tom Harvey Road and Shore Road, with a magnificent view of Winnapaug Pond and Misquamicut. Everyone had a great time, and the weather was perfect! Ms. Vasquez's recommendation is to return in the spring, and I completely agree. Thanks to all those who attended.
P.S.- Our next trip will be on Wednesday, December 12, to Olde Mistick Village to do some pre-holiday shopping, in true Outdoors Club fashion. Dinner will follow at the Steak Loft. One of our best trips, so don't miss it!
Our upcoming November hike!
The Dr. John Champlin Glacier Park consists of two parcels totaling 134 acres. It is entirely recessional moraine kettle and kame topography including ponds, sand barrens and ridges overlooking Winnapaug Pond, Block Island Sound, Block Island andLong Island. The property was purchased August 5, 2004. Location: Between Shore Roadand Tom Harvey Road, on either side of the Winnapaug Cottages development.
Trails: A large trail system through hilly terrain is accessible from two parking areas; one off of Tom Harvey Road and another on Kettle Close that is just off Shore Road at Winnapaug Cottages’ entrance.
Long and Ell Pond Hike
Another successful hike! It was an incredible fall day, perfect for fresh air, exercise, and reflection:) We definitely felt a part of a bigger "outdoors club" as we trekked over bridges created by the Appalachian Mountain Club and stopped to read a plaque that described the locality as a National Natural Landmark.
Next time, we're going local and plan tentatively to hike the trails off of Shore Road on November 14th after school. Listen to the announcements for more details!
